Officers may use reasonable discretion, warnings, citations, arrests, or alternative resolutions when appropriate. Serious offenses should not be ignored, and punishments should stay within the Criminal Code.
Misdemeanor Offenses
Disorderly Conduct: $500-$1,500, 0-5 months. Public disturbance or refusing lawful orders.
Public Intoxication: $250-$750, 0-5 months.
Trespassing: $500-$1,500, 0-10 months.
Obstruction: $1,000-$2,500, 5-10 months.
Vehicle Offenses
Reckless Driving: $1,500-$3,500, 0-10 months.
Evading: $2,500-$5,000, 10-20 months.
Felony Evading: $5,000-$10,000, 20-40 months.
Property Crimes
Vandalism: $1,000-$3,000, 0-10 months.
Burglary: $5,000-$10,000, 15-30 months.
Robbery: $10,000-$20,000, 20-40 months.
Armed Robbery: $15,000-$30,000, 30-60 months.
Drug Offenses
Possession: $2,500-$5,000, 10-20 months.
Distribution: $10,000-$25,000, 30-60 months.
Trafficking: $25,000-$50,000, 60-90 months.
Weapons Offenses
Illegal Weaponry: $5,000-$15,000, 20-40 months.
Brandishing: $5,000-$10,000, 10-20 months.
Discharge of Firearm: $10,000-$20,000, 20-40 months.
Violent Crimes
Assault: $5,000-$10,000, 15-30 months.
Aggravated Assault: $10,000-$25,000, 30-60 months.
Kidnapping: $25,000-$50,000, 60-90 months.
Attempted Murder: $50,000+, 90-120 months.
Murder: $75,000+, 120+ months.
Organized Crime
Criminal Organization Participation: $15,000-$30,000, 30-60 months.
